How To Write A Romantic Love Letter

Romantic love letters

No matter how long you two have been together, there's nothing quite as endearing as a romantic love letter straight from the heart. A personal, hand written love letter is an ideal way to express your feelings; perhaps things you've meant to say for a long time but simply haven't been able to or you just haven't got around to.

Expressing your true feelings for your loved one is not as difficult as it may seem, as long as you are honest and sincere.

Writing Love Letters

Start by finding a suitable blank card or a beautiful sheet of paper on which to write your love letter.

You will probably need to practice first, so get some scrap paper to write down your thoughts. Once you've got it right, then transfer your words to the card or paper.

You don't have to be a Wordsworth or Shakespeare to write a romantic love letter, but there's no harm in using them for inspiration. Romantic quotes and poems are a wonderful source to get you on the right track. Check out our romantic quotes section on this website for some beautifully written prose. Find the words you really believe will strike the right chord with your partner, or maybe choose more than one and go from there.

Keep it real, be honest and be as open as you possibly can. Nothing moves us more than the power of the written word, particularly if the reader knows that your words are heart-felt and sincere.

Once you've got something down on paper that you're happy with, transfer the letter to your special card or paper. Now is NOT the time to fire up the laptop - your hand written note shows you mean what you are saying.

If you're still at the inspiration stage, here are some meditations that may help you get started:

I find the words difficult
with just so many emotions
tumbling through my mind.

I feel only pride in you for who you are and what you mean to me.

I struggle to put my thoughts on paper ... but I must.

You mean everything to me and more
even when the words don't come out quite right
I still feel such peace and complete assurance
that you understand.

I will forever be right by your side
I feel so whole when you are near
it all feels so good and so true.

How can I thank you?

For the many dreams
for such wonderful times.

Even if I should awake to be alone and scared
you are there
in my fondest hopes and memories.

And when morning comes
together. . .

we will still be on this journey

for we made a vow. . .

You make my life complete
You heal my heart and show me pure joy
You touch my soul and teach me to laugh
You heal my mind and teach me to dream
You kiss my spirit and teach me to fly. . .

You are the best part of my life.

Leave your love letter somewhere where it will be found easily, but still be a surprise. For example, on the front seat of the car, inside his or her shoe, on the pillow, in the bathroom attached to the mirror.

Spray it with your favorite scent and if you think it's appropriate, add a small gift like a heart shaped chocolate.

Easily the most effective way to nurture your relationship and keep it fresh and filled with appreciation is the unexpected surprise of a love letter.
